It's Not Over For You

No matter how hard times may be,

You can turn things around to where you are happy.

You have the power to be who or what you want to be.

No matter how many times you have been convicted of a felony.

Life does not come with a rule book, mistakes will be made.

You gotta get back up and not be afraid.

Not everyone will support you some will be uncertain,

but if you try hard and make sure that you are for certain.

The possibilities are endless and success is yours for the taking.

Tell yourself you can do it, and give your willpower an awakening.

There is a way to succeed despite your criminal history,

Its quite simple nothing like a mystery.

You have to make a decision to work hard to prove you are worth

another chance.

You will have to try your hardest with persistence.

Please be patient because it takes time, so it may not happen in an instant.

Put your all into making your dreams come true,

because no matter how bad it looks it does not have to be over for you.

2nd Chance

Haven’t we all, made a mistake

A moment in life, we wish we could take

Back as something we never did

Foolish decisions that come with being a kid

If only I knew then, what I know now

My future would look brighter some how

I paid my debt but still can’t get ahead

Filling out an application I truly dread

Because what will you think when you see

I have been convicted of a felony

Will you ask more questions, further inquire

Before you decide that me you will not hire

My truth is that I did only what I knew

Though this may be confusing to you

How the decision to commit a crime

Was all that I had at a particular point and time

I don’t live by that standard anymore

A better future is what I am fighting for

I only need a chance to show

The person behind the felony that you don’t know

Recidivism is real, I have no desire to fail or fall

I need a hand up not a hand out so I can stand tall

On my own two feet and contribute to society

Without the cloud of being convicted of a felony

Will you help change a life that some have cast away

Will you be the beginning of my brand new day

I need someone to say yes, I have heard no enough

I just want to live a life free of the unproductive stuff
