SUMMARY
Provides services to guests by checking them in and out, assisting with directions or local area information, resolves guest requests or issues in a timely manner, and meets any other customer service needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Maintains knowledge of current room types, rate structures, and features.
  • Takes and processes individual and group reservations.
  • Checks guests in and out. Fills out appropriate forms for payment and posts information to computer system.
  • Prints and reconciles various reports throughout shift to ensure accurate guest information including rates, length of stay, method of payment, and incidental charges.
  • Adjusts complaints concerning billing or service rendered, referring complaints of service failures to designated departments for investigation.
  • Dispatches daily maintenance calls and work request orders to Engineering.
  • Records events of each business day using the Care/Opportunity Log and red book to ensure accurate communication between shifts.
  • Assists guests with items such as property amenities, directions, information about the area, etc.
  • Updates reservation system when reservations have been booked or canceled.
  • Uses voice mail and walkie talkies at appropriate times.
  • Handles cash and charge transactions, maintains accurate records and balances at the end of each shift.
  • Balances bank at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Informs housekeeping of checkouts and new arrivals.
  • Provides quality service to guests that meets or exceeds expectations by anticipating guest needs. Always maintaining a polite, friendly, professional demeanor.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
OUTCOME
Service provided by front desk clerks will have a great effect on the guest impression of the entire organization. Friendly and efficient guest service will enhance guest comfort and satisfaction.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Computer skills are a must. Prior experience with Hilton OnQ PMS preferred.

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of educa┬Čtion and experience.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in English to customers, members, employees, guests, and the general public.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • REASONING ABILITY- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to work in an efficient and professional manner with guests and members under limited supervision.
AVAILABILITY
This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Shifts will generally be rotated unless you were hired for a specific shift, as much as possible to be fair to everyone. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determine the amount of hours that you work.
