The Business Systems Analyst I or Business System Analyst II positions role is to plan, design, maintain and launch efficient business, financial and operations computer systems that support core organizational functions and business processes. At varying levels, positions analyze business processes, facilitate, lead and initiate change to leverage the use of computer system capability.   • Communicate with systems users as the first point of contact regarding system problems and change request; provide support to system users; troubleshoot issues.
  • Prepare procedures and training documentation; provide system training to end users; perform routine procedural audits; identify areas to be considered for improved efficiency.
  • Maintain and update information in systems.
  • Design and execute reports to summarize and clearly present data required for decision-making.
  • Represent Bus Maintenance department as member of cross-department application support team.
  • Maintain, administer, and help design reporting databases and other information entities.  Accurately code values from original data and complete analysis as needed.
  • Perform routine analysis; test and recommend system solutions; analyze and troubleshoot routine system problems; document issues, request recommendations and changes.
  • Assist in development and publication of standard operating procedures.
  • Cross-train and back-up other Business System Analysts in the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience: Business Systems Analyst I (Grade F)

Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Information Assurance, Statistics, Management Information Systems, or related field. And, zero to three or more years of business administration, information assurance, statistical analysis, management information systems, or related work experience.
 
OR

Associates degree in Business Administration, Information Assurance, Management Information Systems, or related field. And, two years or more of business administration, information assurance, management information systems, or related work experience.

Minimum Education and Experience: Business System Analyst II (Grade G)

Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Information Assurance, Statistics, Management Information Systems or related field. And, three or more years of business administration, information assurance, statistical analysis, management information systems, or related work experience.

OR

Associates degree in Business Administration, Information Assurance, Statistics, Management Information Systems, or related field. And, five or more years of business administration, information assurance, statistical analysis, management information systems, or related work experience.

Desired Qualifications: 
  • Experience with business/functional analysis, process improvement, and project management
  • Experience with SQL queries, Crystal Reports (or similar tool), Microsoft Access databases, or application development
  • Experience with customer service and support

  • Experience with public transportation or mechanical and maintenance practices 
     
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of standard software development life cycle models, database design, and application architecture. 
  • Knowledge of standard mechanical practices, terms, and phrases.
  • Knowledge of public transit operation practices.
  • Skill in analyzing, accurately summarizing, and presenting data. 
  • Excellent skills in query and report design using SQL, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, or similar tools. 
  • Proficiency in software documentation, and writing standard operating procedures.
  • Intermediate skills in word processing, spreadsheets and graphics presentations (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point). 
  • Excellent communication skills for clear, concise, and professional correspondence. 
  • Basic customer service skills for providing support and training to information system users. 
  • Ability to translate department procedures and practices into requirements for application development.
  • Ability to collaboratively develop business processes based on software capabilities and limitations, and effectively communicate those processes and procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and do basic quality assurance testing on software under development.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, government regulations, union contracts, and contracts for services.  
  • Ability to follow best practices and company procedures for risk mitigation in software maintenance and development. 
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and work independently. 
  • Ability to appropriately maintain confidential information in electronic records. 
  • Ability to communicate with tact, courtesy, and professionalism where the primary purpose is the exchange of information.

Physical Conditions: This position will also require talking or hearing, close and distance vision, reading, writing and ability to effectively communicate and interact with others up to two-thirds of the time, problem solving, deduction more than two-thirds of the time.

Selection Process: The selection process consists of a review of your education and experience and how it relates to the duties of this position.
